sparrow neighbors

A sparrow liked to sit on a roof corner near my bathroom window, waking me with its singing or shouting, depending on who you ask, on many mornings. It would fly away if I opened it to have a clear view for photo. When I got my telescope lens, I could instead stand on my balcony, far enough away to not bother my noisy neighbor. This is how I took this photo.

On another occasion I managed to either wait after I opened the window or be sneaky enough while moving it to get this shot. You can still see a few small droplets from rain on the tiny bird.

Of course, it wasn't alone. And maybe, the first two aren't even the same birds. These two were actually sitting a lot further away compared to the first photos, on the other end of the roof. But that gave me smooth warmly colored background to work with instead of the blue-grey, cloudy winter sky.

Despite maybe not being very exciting birds, neither rare nor colorful nor majestic, I'm looking forward to meeting them. Without fail, they live in the urban places I live and visit and are so used to humans that I can get close enough to take detailed portrait pictures. Expect at least one of them for almost every journey I show photos from.
