portrait of a koala
I visited the zoo in Madrid as I always like to do when visiting a major city. It actually is usually: zoo, botanical garden, church (if applicable, or maybe temple), museums (as many as possible).
I enjoyed my walk through the zoo. I brought Big Zoom, the 70-300 mm lens I had already used in Cologne with much success early on. I still feel, this is a great range for the zoo where it is often possible to approach much closer than in the wild and sometimes even unavoidable.
As I learned later I was quite lucky to meet this Koala during its "active" or at least "eye open" time of the day. Due to the warm weather it was sitting in the outside area of its enclosure making for nice natural light and a pretty portrait of a koala.

Well, as soon as I had zoomed out to show a bit more of its surroundings its eyes started to close. That's why I consider myself lucky to have gotten the headshot at the beginning of this post.
