on flowers

The lotus photo inspired me to take more photos of flowers. And they rewarded me. Flowers don't run or fly away like animals. Flowers aren't shy, annoyed, awkward. They can't even see the camera.

And, to me, they are innately beautiful. Most of them. Like these roses contrasting against a blue sky and burry trees. Yet their pink is soft, as delicate as their petals.

Flowers are also not too large. They lend themselves to close-ups. And if something is close to the lens the background blur comes a lot easier. That's not all, though. By sheer luck, I hit a balance in this picture that I'm still struggling to replicate. The front flower is standing out. However, the background is not completely dissolved. It's just clear enough to mysteriously hint at so many more flowers, just as beautiful as the first.

This third picture echoes the lotus. Without the straight on view and with a much simpler green-white-yellow color scheme it might not impress as much at first glance. But in this simplicity also lies a charm. And the promise that this won't be the last you'll see about flowers here...
