niagara falls

After staying in Toronto for a while I visited the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls.

There's kind of veil over the photos of the falls. On one hand it was a cloudy day. On the other the falls produce their own mist.

The picture on top has been exposed for 4 seconds to create the smoothness you see. This was only possible with a so called neutral density filter. It's a piece of glass that looks like one side of a pair of sunglasses. It is made so it reduces the amount of light arriving at the camera without changing colors.

To relate to the real size of the falls is difficult from the first picture. This second one, with a seagull close to the foot of the falls, gives a reference (the seagull) and makes the immense size a bit more tangible.
