madrid sunset

I was looking for something to eat for dinner on my way from the center to the hotel on the outskirts of Madrid. There was a place with good reviews near the train station. Turns out it belonged to a hotel and was on its top floor.

I was a bit unsure if I could eat there although I didn't stay there, but the staff was very friendly and said it was no problem. The sun setting over the train station Puerta Atocha caught my eye. I stepped on the balcony and took one of my favorite sunset pictures to date.

A day earlier I had taken this picture of dense traffic, pedestrians and the sign "METROPOLIS" on a heavily ornamented building. When I took it, I thought, it would be a summary in picture form. But it turned out differently. I felt that it was too busy. Trees are blocking the view of the building offering itself as the main subject. Despite that, I still feel that it has a certain interest about it. Now, it is time to present it in the context of its more successful sibling above (which I liked so much that I printed and framed it for a friend).
