In spring 2024, I decided it was time to visit another zoo. The Gaia zoo in Kerkrade isn't far from Jülich. But I messed up my scheduling and in the end had just about 1 h before the zoo would close. I was still happy with the visit and the modern architecture of the place. And towards the end of the visit this small bird presented itself in the golden light of the setting sun.

The Lioness also appreciated the setting sun. Just in a different way.

The antelope is half lit by the sun. Her eyelashes are impressive, but so are the veins in her ears highlighted by the grazing light.

During this visit I learned that the telescope lens can't zoom out enough for some situations at the zoo. So of some animals I could only take portraits such as this one.
